2. The Situation in Samegrelo Growing Hotter

Having completed the ethnic purges in the Gali district, the Abkhazian
authorities achieved their goal, the newspaper argues, as the 40
thousand new refugees, who fled to the Zugdidi district, seriously
threaten stability in the region. Due to impotence and incompetence of
the Georgian government, they were mainly accommodated in the
explosive region of Megrelia rather than dispersed evenly across the
country. On June 29 they blocked the main highway of Zugdidi,
demanding "fair distribution of humanitarian aid". The author
apprehends their demands may become more radical and grow into
anti-governmental riots.

3. The Police Broke Up a Rally of Refugees in Zugdidi

On June 29 special police forces broke up a rally of refugees who had
blocked the main highway of Zugdidi. Witnesses say the police used
tear-gas and made some warning shots in the air.
