INTERIGHTS' Equality Programme seeks two interns to develop and help
implement its work. The first three month internship will begin in
September 2003 and the second in January 2004.

The exact nature of activities will depend on organisational and
programme priorities at the time of the placement, however, it is likely
that the main focus will include:

- Legal research on international and comparative human rights law and
practice to support the preparation of briefs before domestic courts;
- Preparation of materials for legal training or INTERIGHTS'
publications, predominantly on the application and development of the
right to non-discrimination;
- Involvement in programme administration and development;
- Interns are encouraged to attend staff and Board meetings at which
current human rights developments and organisational policy are
discussed. They may arrange meetings with human rights practitioners in
the UK, or visit other international or national human right
organisations based in London, and may attend human rights lectures in
London or other universities, wherever possible.

INTERIGHTS will arrange and pay for travel and visa costs. Each intern
will receive a monthly stipend of 1,100. Accommodation is not provided
but INTERIGHTS can advise on finding a suitable place to stay.

To apply please send by a covering letter, a curriculum vitae indicating
two referees and a recent writing sample of no more than two thousand
words. Short listed candidates will be interviewed by telephone.

Applications should be sent to Beth Fernandez, Programme Assistant
(Equality Programme) either by email to bfernandez@interights.org,
by fax to +44 (0)20 7278 4334,
or by post to Interights, 33 Islington High Street, London N1 9LH.

The closing date for applications for the intern from the CEE and fSU is
20 June 2003.

The closing date for applications for the intern from South Asia is 8
July 2003.

Interights is committed to equal opportunities.
